Begrip uit de VS: samentrekking van 'she' en 'recession', een recessie waarin de stijging van de werkloosheid of andere negatieve effecten van een recessie vrouwen harder raken dan mannen.
De Amerikaanse werkloosheidscijfers van het US Labor Department van vrijdag 8 mei 2020 waren desastreus: als gevolg van het coronavirus werden in de VS in april 2020 circa 20,5 miljoen banen weggevaagd. Uitgesplitst op basis van demografie bleek dat de zwaarst getroffen groep werknemers vrouwen waren (55%), met name gekleurde vrouwen.
De New York Times noemde deze recessie daarom de eerste 'shecession' in lange tijd. Dit met een knipoog naar de term mancession, die werd gebruikt tijdens de Grote Recessie (2008-2012).
